Sharkelia Taylor was shot and killed on may 26, Prentice Shipp, 18, has been arrested and charged with first degree murder and attempted first degree murder. Taylor was shot in the back and another girl was hit in the leg.

Montgomery Garner given 87-month Federal sentence For Shooting Girlfriend in Rectum
Garner spent almost four years in jail awaiting trial for first degree attempted murder which was eventually dismissed due to an error by the prosecutor, has been sentenced to 87 months in Federal Prison for a related charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.
The victim survived, but many of her organs were damaged.

I think this case illustrates perfectly why everyone carrying around a handgun is not wise. Misguided souls put this out as a solution to things like school shootings. Yes, any one spree killer may be stopped in his tracks, but how many individual acts of violence such as this one would occur every day?
